The "Airbrushing United for the Troops" banner was the brainchild of Rick Primeau of Primo Customs in Chatsworth California.
A Few words from Rick: "As artists we are uniting for the armed forces overseas to give back a small token of gratitude. We will be airbrushing on a Canvas that was created by Rach in the UK, it is being passed on to any artist that is signed up to TheAirbrushForums.Com and signed up to do the banner. The banner is 10ft long and 3ft wide, Paints are sponsored by Auto Air Colors and DeVilbiss is sponsoring airbrushes to travel around with the banner."
The basic idea behind the project was to create a collaborative "Thank You" for all the men and women fighting overseas for our freedoms and way of life.
Rick brought up the idea to a few members of the Airbrush Tricks forums one day and a few hours later the project was born... With the initial help of Rachel Blackstock(airmazing) and Jason Jones(JasonJones) from theairbrushforums.com the banner and this site were created to help support the project. Rachel provided the 10 foot by 3 foot banner and the initial artwork to get the project moving along. All the while Rick was networking with his contacts in the industry to find some sponsorship to help make this project a huge success. DeVilbiss and Auto Air Colors both stepped up immediately with support with others to follow suit. The project idea and general guidelines were posted to theairbrushforums.com website and the ball was rolling. The immediate response was almost overwhelming, artists from around the world, both Amateur and Professionals, are signing up almost faster than we can all keep up!
The general guidelines for the banner are pretty basic. Nothing offensive, short turnaround(3 days max), and you have to ship it to the next artist on the list. The project is more about the gift of thanks than the actual quality of the artwork, although we expect some amazing things as it makes the rounds to some of the best artists in the world both established and up and coming.
The banner will make its rounds and end up in California where Rick will collaborate with a couple of Marines, Tony D of Airbrush Tricks and Allen(Loco), who are also airbrush artists as well to finalize the banner and get it on its way to be presented to our troops overseas.
